As COVID-19 was beginning to ramp up, I was on my way home from Australia where I'd gotten to do some gigs with Kip Winger. I felt so unfriendly putting a mask on... so I wrote a new song, "Smiling behind the mask", to try to teach myself a new way of being that would respond to the need for safety without driving me mad with fear. It features remotely harvested guest performances from some of my favorite people.
